Equipment

  • Kitchen Tongs
  • Mixing bowl
  • Toothpicks optional
  • Parchment paper optional

Ingredients

  • 20 tater tots frozen or thawed
  • 10 strips bacon cut in half lengthwise (you might need less bacon *see notes)
  • 1/4 teaspoon (3 g) seasoning salt
  • 3 tablespoons (44 ml) honey
  • 2 tablespoons (30 ml) Sriracha

Instructions

  • Put the tater tots in a bowl and sprinkle the seasoning salt evenly over the tots. Go light so you don't make the tots too salty.
  • Cut the bacon strips in half lengthwise. Wrap one strip around each tater tot. It should go around twice. If it's longer than that, cut it in half and wrap two tots with one strip. Add the wrapped tots back to the bowl.
  • Mix the honey and sriracha together and drizzle half of it over the tots. Stir to coat. You can secure the bacon ends together with a toothpick, if the bacon doesn't stay put.
  • Arrange the tater tots in the air fryer basket.
  • Air fryer on 350 degrees F (175C) for 10-13 minutes, until the bacon is browned and the tots are crispy. You can turn over once in the middle of cooking, if necessary. Be sure to check on them frequently so you don't burn the bacon. Serve with more of the spicy glaze as a dipping sauce.

Notes

  • Don't overcrowd the air fryer basket. Things cook best in the air fryer if the air can circulate around the food.
  • If the bacon won't stay wrapped you can secure the bacon ends together with a toothpick.
  • I use a parchment paper round on the bottom of my air fryer to keep them from sticking and it makes for easy clean-up.
  • You want to wrap the bacon around the tot twice, so that it still covers the whole tot once it's cooked. The bacon shrinks quite a bit. You might find that your bacon is long enough to cut the strips in two. It's better to only use half a strip of bacon per tot, if the full strip will wrap around more than twice. You don't want the bacon to be too thick to cook properly. So you might actually need anywhere from 5 to 10 strips of bacon for 20 tots.

All air fryers have different wattage and may cook at different rates. You may need to adjust the time or temp for the best results.
