Instructions
Place the chicken breasts in the air fryer basket. Cook at 380°F (190°C) for 12-15 mins, until the chicken reaches 165°F (75°C) internal temperature. Remove the chicken from the air fryer and let cool for a few mins until it can be shredded with two forks.
In a bowl, combine the shredded chicken with chili powder, cumin, garlic powder, paprika, salt, and pepper. Mix well to ensure the chicken is evenly seasoned.
Warm the tortillas in the microwave for 15 seconds to make them pliable.
Place a spoonful of the seasoned chicken and a sprinkle of shredded cheese on each tortilla. Roll the tortillas tightly into cigar shapes. Place them seam-side-down on a plate.
Lightly spray or brush the flautas with cooking spray or oil to help them crisp up in the air fryer.
Arrange them in a single layer in the air fryer basket, making sure they are not touching each other. You might need to cook them in batches.
Air fry the flautas on 375°F(190°C) for 8-10 minutes, or until they are golden brown and crispy.
Serve with your favorite dipping sauces such as salsa, guacamole, or sour cream.
Notes
Heat the tortillas briefly on a skillet or the microwave to make them pliable for rolling.
Place the rolled flautas seam-side-down on a plate while you roll the rest so they don't come unrolled.
Depending on the size of your air fryer, you might need to cook the flautas in batches to avoid overcrowding.
Start cooking them with the seam-side-down.
All air fryers have different wattage and may cook at different rates. You may need to adjust the time or temp for the best results.
